Varying temperatures with different software readings.

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I just finished assembling my friends computer and everything seemed to go well including the installation of his Hyper 212 EVO cooler on 760K Richland X4 3.8ghz processor. However, after installing several programs, HWMONITOR PRO has him at over 55-65 degrees Celsius on all cores. Core temp is unable to read the CPU temp and lists it as 0 degrees. Real temp has him at 14-18 degrees Celsius. Luckily the motherboard software (MSI Control Center) lists all his temps to be a more reasonable 30-40 degrees Celsius. All of these temps were recorded at IDLE. I will post screenshots shortly. Should I simply ignore the high temps on other programs and only follow MSI Control Center? Perhaps it has to do with the CPU fan connector and where I placed it on the motherboard?

Sorry to ramble, thanks so much for your help.

Alright, from somebody that had that processor, it isn't that hot. I had mine under an H60 and it was still the same temperature. The temperature sensor on that is not something that the OS really knows how to read. AMD Overdrive shows how close the temperature is from max recommended. The BIOS and AMD Overdrive are the most accurate.
You should not use multiple utilities to measure temps as they will interfere with one another. The Motherboard utility (MSI Control Center) typically list a value that is NOT core temperatures but a weighted average of various temperatures.

The CPU fan connector MUST be connected to the CPU Header as it is the ONLY PWM header on the MoBo.

Open task manager and make sure no other utilities are running before using one utility. I'm oft told by tech support personnel that even having other utilities installed , and not running, can interfere with readings tho I have not personally observed this.
