I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I'm going about this the wrong way. I'm going to use my computer mainly for gaming and general use, I currently have a 140Gb hard drive which I have filled in a few days. I'm not too sure if I should get a Seagate 1tb SSHD or a 240Gb SSD plus my original 140Gb Harddrive? How much storage space have you guys used?

edit: I don't plan to have that many games, on my other computer I've only used 300Gb and I've had it for a couple of years. Also if I go for the SSD I will have 380Gb of storage since I'll also keep my 140Gb if that's possible.

So...
Get a good SSD for now. Later, when you do discover you need a larger HDD, simply add one.

That 140GB drive is 7% the size of a current 2TB HDD, and likely slower.
To answer your last: I've 4TB HDD which is 80% filled. I've two SSDs. One for OS and Apps and the other one for my favorite games only.

Now to you main question:

Ideal combination is SSD + HDD. If you think 240GB is enough or plenty for your requirements then you may consider buying SSD though from my point of view 240GB is nothing for today's PC usage.

Better buy 1TB WD Blue Caviar @ 7200RPM with 64MB Cache and you'll be benefited.

Get a SSD, you can usually find the Kingston V300 series 240gb drive for around $90-110 lately, I've seen it at a few places. If you want to spend a little more money get a Samsung drive, I have 3 840 Pros and have been extremely pleased with them over the last year or so. With the 850 pros out it is really tempting to pick those up, although I know it's really not necessary for me. On my SSD's im using about 200gb and on my HDD (1tb) I'm using about 200gb. Most my space I've consumed is games, I have around 30 installed.

Would a good solution be to buy an SSD and when I fill that up (which will take a while) and then buy a 1tb HDD?
