Is ok to recover image from HDD to an SSD?

I've read conflicting reports to the matter. I have a 500GB HDD at the moment with about 160gb of data on it and I've order a crucial M550 256GB SSD. I used macrium( free ) to make an image of my HDD and from what I've read macrium contains the tech to align the partitions, etc. So is it ok to recover this image to my SSD or should I just go the long haul of reinstalling everything?

Migrating from an HDD to SSD usually works. Usually.
It works better if the used space is 'smaller' than the size of the new SSD. As it appears to be in your case.

However - people have reported small issues. Sector sizes not aligned correctly, reduced performance, etc.
And then just problems with the whole migration thing. It is not foolproof.

I always recommend just a fresh install on the new SSD.

Ok well it worked, but I have another question to ask here as to not flood the forum. Once the image was installed to the SSD I installed easybcd. I plugged the 500gb HDD back in( which also has easybcd installed ) but for whatever reason it would only boot to the HDD, so once loaded I opened easybcd and added the SSD( which was listed as drive E: ). After that when I restarted I got the selection but no matter which one I chose it would only boot to the 500gb? So I unplugged the HDD and tried booting into the SSD but it would hang on "preparing desktop", couldn't even boot into it in safe mode.

So I reinstalled the image again to the ssd and its all good( w/o the 500gb HDD installed ). I never had a problem dual booting before between two HDD's, is there some trick to doing it with HDD and a SSD? Only reason I want to be able to dual boot is so I can reformat the HDD from the SSD. Any help or ideas would greatly be appreciated.
