Internet speeds really slow depending on distance

My internet speeds on my PC are really low, depending on how far away my PC is from my router. I know that seems like a no-brainier, but this is a special case. If I move just 10 meters away from my router, my speeds will be a tenth of what it is near the router. This is not a problem with my router, as I have tested this at multiple places (my home, college campus, girlfriend's house, library).

For example, I'm at a library right now. Using speedtest.net, I get ~100 kb/s on my PC. On my android phone, using the speedtest.net app, I get ~14 mb/s. My phone is sitting inches away from my PC when I run the test.

I have no idea why this is the case, and it had been for awhile, but it had always not been. I don't remember exactly what I was doing around the time this problem started occurring, but; if I had to guess I think it was after I installed ubuntu alongside of windows on the PC. I get the same speeds when using either ubuntu or windows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter

Using a USB adapter seems to have fixed the problem, thanks. I'd still like to try and fix the integrated wifi adapter that I already have though. Any ideas how? All I've tried so far is to uninstall the drivers and re install new ones. Which didn't help.
