I am thinking about Crossfiring two R9 290s for my build. What is the recommended wattage for this kind of configuration?

PCPartPicker.com says that it only takes 250W each and a total of 500W with both. Is this horrendously inaccurate?

Not at all. 300 watts PER CARD is a little hard to do.

Look at that. 300 Watts at stock. Why get an R9 290 and don't overclock? Plus, this is 2 of them. That will probably end up being close to 750 or 800 Watts if overclocked, and that leaves little room for the CPU. This isn't even full load for the GPU, just gaming. Stress testing will drive it up more.

That is ESTIMATED. The real-world power consumption is more.

Makes sense. OK, how about this. I'm planning to OC a i5-4670K to 4.7GHz. How much wattage would that take up? Also, is that as safe clock to go with? I'm getting a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 for my heatsink.

Depends what voltage that will take and the CPU you get. I am limited to 4.3 or else I have to go upwards of 1.4 V, when at 4.3 I am fine at 1.275 V. But if you are at 1.3 V and 4.7 GHz, it would take approximately 126 Watts. For a good PSU calculator, look here: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

I would still get a 1000W PSU in case of major overclocking and upgrading.
