So I'm currently running an AMD 8350 @ 4.7 on an ASUS M5A99X EVO r2.0 motherboard ( Cooled with a Corsair H80i).
On this board Im running a Radeon R9-295x2 card. I'm planning on sticking with the 8350 for another 18-24 months then upgrading to an 8 core intel then.
In the mean time would my graphics card benefit in any way from upgrading my motherboard to a Sabertooth or Formula Z? I realize non of those boards are PCIe 3.0 so i cannot benefit from that, however, is there really any performance benefit to this upgrade or should I just stick with the board I have now?

Solution
Board upgrades are purely for features, not performance (unless you count the feature overclocking in). Upgrade if you need etc. another size mobo, more SATA, more PCI-E, New cpu.

your board is already a 990X, so the most important feature to do a mobo-only upgrade is pretty much gone, since it can probably overclock just fine.
But you wouldn't have ANY real benefit from the mobo upgrade in performance really... :)

The only thing those boards would provide over your current one is possibly hitting a higher overclock on your CPU.

The 8350 @ 4.7 is still competitive with the newer Intel I5/I7 in most newer games.

Personally, I wouldn't waste money on something that may not provide any benefit at all.
