PC Overheating Issues, need help.

Hello,
I recently upgraded to Crossfire and its been great ( I can now do 4k). There is one major problem... My 2nd (Bottom one) is a 7870tahit and it gets real hot, it runs at ~90C and once it reaches around 92C it makes my PC crash and the screen gets black with random dirty white lines near the top and then shuts off, during this process the headphones make a terrible noise sounding like baaaaaa electronically. The 1st gpu 7950, is at a good temp. (77-85c) and does not make issues. Note all fans are on max rpm. What can I do to fix it?

Zobbar :

7950s and 7870s can't crossfire... 2 different chips. Your PC also looks very dusty. Clean it with a can of compressed air.

There are 2 all ready, but they are small and they suck, see the picture. They are side by side and one pushes in and the other out.

Only a Tahiti 7870 can be cross-fired with a normal 7950 because the 7870 Tahiti uses the 7950 base. A normal 7870 CANNOT be CF'd with a 7950.

About a year after the normal 7870 released. The Tahiti 7870 is basically a 7930. It is significantly more powerful than a 7870 and closer to a 7950 in performance.

Yeah, they are a great used purchase as many people don't know what they have and sell them at normal used 7870 price ($140-$160 range).

I would say that a tahiti 7870 is about equal to a 270x.

The PC is even worse now... I opened the side panel and now its at 95c for both the cards and its a steady 95c... I upgraded my case from a bit fenix merc alpha to the aerocool extreme engine 3T that I got from a friend. Any help, I'm scared of using the PC now...

XFX cards don't have the best cooling. Buy an aftermarket cooler for them or buy a card from another maker.

I do not believe this is the issue. OP, you could try re-pasting the cards, or cleaning out their dust. ALso, amke sure their fans speed up as the temps increase.

Taking the cooler off the card and applying new thermal paste.

Technically I guess. I have done this to many cards before.

Do the fans on the cards spin faster as the temps go up?

Definitely consider setting up custom fan profiles in a program like MSI afterburner. This will fix your problems.

RMA the cards if they are under warranty. 100% fan speed should cool the cards easily. Most GPUs don't get over 50% fan speed at the hottest.
