I have just upgraded to the R9 270X from AMD 6850.. From what i read on the benchmarks the 270x should have been twice as good as the 6850.. So i was expecting great FPS improvements

I only received the card yesterday and started testing today. I tried 3 games that i used to lag with in my older 6850 card. Which are : Assassins creed 3 and 4 , Thief .

I was surprised however when i got worse performance with the 270x than the 6850 in AC3... And got exactly the same amount of FPS with AC4 and Thief.

I have uninstalled the previous drivers prior to installing the new 270x and there was no errors. I am using the latest beta driver 14.6.

Here is a PIC of the GPU usage and CPU while i was playing AC4. both of them did not exceed 50% yet somehow i was getting about 23 FPS in-game??? Why is not the rest of the power being utilized?

Also , I tried benchmarking it on the heaven unigene benchmark tool .. and i ended up getting average 30.2 FPS even though i turned off AA and put tessellation to normal.. Is this even normal?

Lastly. Here is my full spec in case you were wondering :

AMD FX-6100 3.3Ghz
MSI R9 270X 2GB OC Edition
8GB of RAM and XFX 550Watt PSU.

Looks like you could have a bad board. Try it in another system or RMA it.

Hello @hitman47222 I know this is an old thread, but I'm having a somewhat similar issue. I can't run tomb raider steady even if I tune down the settings a little (acordding to reviews and youtube videos this card should max it out @1080p ) and although the temps are a bit high (up to 83c) it doesn't seem that's the issue. Could you please tell us how did you managed to solve this? did you send it back? or was it a bad driver or something?.
thanks.
