Solution
you can do it for 6USD.

first you need to buy this : http://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-2-5-Inch-External-Aluminum-Enclosure/dp/B00E362W9O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1404261272&sr=8-4&keywords=sata+to+usb+2+sabrent

It is a SABRENT 2.5-Inch SATA Aluminum Hard Drive to USB 2.0 Enclosure (EC-US25). pretty much what happens is you the the 1tb hard drive inside the enclosure and connect it to the sata connector. plug the 2 usb ports into any open 2 usb ports in your computer.

then download this software free to download which will actually let you clone the hard drive. it wont automatically clone when plugged in automatically: http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/home-edition/index.htm

sorry i cant really explain the process well. it is easier than...

sorry i cant really explain the process well. it is easier than it sounds. there is a manual that comes with the enclosure.

Solution
I've cloned three drives (HDD to SSD) and never had any problems with Windows recognizing the drives or any problems with Windows running as it should after the cloned drive was installed. Is the computer a laptop or desktop computer. If it is a laptop then the 2.5" enclosure should work fine. If it is a desktop computer and the new drive is not an SSD drive then you may want to consider a 3.5" enclosure or a SATA to USB cable.

okay well i ended up useing easaeus to clone the drive but i just plug in the 1tb as a normal hard drive and when i cloned it like 700 and something gigs where still unallocated so i extended the main partition to take up the rest of the space but now when i try to boot off the 1tb it boots but instead of going to the screen for me to type in my password it just takes me to a light blue screen that has the windows ui type thing with just the time and my internet connection but no where to type in my password does anyone know where i messed up or how to fix this?
thank you
