Hey lads!
So i've been at a LAN recently, which was very fun. What /wasn't/ fun was the ride home. My PC was of course in the package that came with the case ( an Aerocool Strike-X Advance here this case ) with the foam around it. I was scared though. It was in the back of the car, and the car was getting some good bumps on the way, as there were some holes in the road, roadbumps, etc., etc.
- So how much can a PC take with these physical bumps?

Anything i could see relevant to damage under the bump was my grapics card though - My Asus GTX 770. Can the PCI-Es take these bumps?

Thanks!

There shouldn't be any problem on normal driving surfaces. They can usually take a beating. I'm not certain of repeated beatings though. You might have to reseat the ram and/or graphics card once in a while after moving a computer such as in a car.

Generally, I would think that a good padding like a thicker blanket or thick bedspread can be used to cushion the case between the two seats (front and back) and on the bottom of course. Basically, to limit the amount of play between the two seats. Even pillows will do the trick so that if flips back and forth a little between the two seats but it will be hitting a soft pillow. Actually now that I have about it a little more, pillows are great or this.
Nothing really should have happened to it since the computer was surrounded by foam, but a computer has moving parts, so there is a chance of damage, but in your case (not PC case), only minimal.

You were better off by just putting the computer in one of the seats, or on the floor, where it could not move.

The life of a PC, from construction to your living room:
Factory -> conveyor belt -> forklift -> warehouse -> forklift -> truck -> forklift -> shipping container -> ship -> ocean -> big giant forklift thing to grab the shipping container -> ground -> forklift -> truck - warehouse -> forklift -> truck -> Newegg warehouse -> forklift -> truck -> distro warehouse -> forklift -> truck -> local UPS center -> forklift -> truck all day in the summer heat (or winter cold) -> USP guy drops it (literally) on your porch.

And you're worried about a couple of miles in the back of the car?

(I probably left out a couple of steps in there)

Lol, that's good, did you have that pre-made and ready to re-use again?

Actually, I just made it up. Will keep it for future use, though.
