I just put together my first desktop PC and I've been having some issues with it. on of them is that every couple of days the speakers that i have hooked into the audio out on the motherboard (Asus M5A78L-M) will suddenly not be recognized, if I plug them into the headphone jack on the front of the case they still won't work.

The 1st time this happened, other problems arose at the same time so I did a clean install of Windows 7 and made sure to carefully install all the drivers. This solved the problem for about 10 days and now it is happening on and off randomly.

I am getting so frustrated with this problem and i'd really appreciate some help.

Maybe you didn't install the Chipset driver before the sound driver?
The Chipset driver should be the first motherboard driver you install, followed by the others.

Install the Chipset driver, then install the sound driver: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/HelpDesk_Download/

Distinguished
1. Audio codec chip pins can be soldered not so good - check with lense.
2. Audio codec chip can have abnormal high current - check temperature of chip by finger (can be too hot)
3. Audio codec chip can have abnormal voltages/resistances - if you can to check --->25 pin =5V and near 1000 Ohm
Some of big MLCCs around chip can have near 5V and one big MLCC should have near 2.5V

The chipset drivers were the first things I installed after installing windows. I just installed the newest drivers for both MB and VIA audio and the audio seems to be working for now, although just like in the past it might just be false hope.

EDIT* And now it isn't working once again, this time resulting in all programs freezing on the computer and a blue screen.

1. I checked the solder points and they seemed fine
2. The temperature on the chip was about the same as room temperature.
3. Unfortunately I don't have a meter to test voltages and resistance.
