MOBO: GA-MA74GM-S2
PSU: Coolermaster RS-460-PSAR-J3
CPU: AMD Athlon II X 4 635 Series
GPU: Sapphire HD 5770 OS WIN 7, SP 1 MOBO in case earlier, no power. Removed MOBO to a nonconductive service. Removed everything except 24 pin PWR, 4 pin ATX. Stock AMD CPU cooler plugged in, plus 1 1 stick of 4 GB DDR2 (PGS24G6400ELK) Case plugged in, shorted PWR SW with screwdriver, got CPU fan to run. Need someone to help me troubleshoot further. This system worked fine a few days ago. When MOBO was in case, I got no power, checked all standoffs, they are all in place, and look OK. Need Help Please!!!

Solution
The CPU with the bent/broken pins was never installed into the new motherboard, so it was never actually used yet. I'm just waiting for the next new CPU to arrive to install that one in the MOBO. CMOS was reset on the old MOBO, and yesterday it attempted to boot up. I may just wait, put the new one together, then go back to this one. It may not be worth fixing..
Have you re-set CMOS? Re-seated thew video card? I'm guessing you have since you got this far. If I had to guess I would swap out the PSU which sounds pretty low end. It isn't uncommon for them to fail partially, powering the system but not enough to POST.

I went through Tom's checklist once yesterday, and twice today. Yesterday, upon removing CPU, found a couple of bent pins, straightened them, cleaned off thermopaste and reapplied new, reseated CPU, installed cooler. I've had problems with this case's front power switch. It turns power on, but not off. I tried reversing the terminals, no difference. I have components coming in tomorrow & Thu for upgrade. I tried upgrade over last weekend, not so good. Dropped CPU, bent pins, broke pins trying to straighten them. Had to order another CPU, and at the same time ordered new cast and PSU. So I have a new MOBO, new RAM, new CPU cooler, already, just waiting for rest of system to arrive. I would like to resurrect this system and dedicate it solely to recording TV programs for the wife. Maybe it's beyond help?
