best CPU M4A87TD EVO

my current CPU is AMD Phenom II X4 955. This works well but in some more CPU intensive games, it holds back my fps. I recently purchased a GTX 770 graphics card and my fps in CSGO barely changed. What is the best CPU i can buy for this motherboard?

I would like to get a new motherboard but I have never uninstalled a motherboard and I have a fear of destroying my computer.

Here's their list of those supported, think i'd look to a new mobo and CPU, there's plenty of videos and guides on changing these out, it's pretty easy, my kids were building and swapping going back to when they were 5 and 7 respectfully.

Unless you can find a Phenom II x6 used for cheap (pretty much impossible at this point in time), I would change to another platform entirely.

A Haswell i5 would be a huge upgrade and the H87/H97 motherboards are not expensive. AMD doesn't have anything new that would be a very noticeable enough upgrade over your Phenom II.

I wish I would have held onto my 1090T. It was a poor overclocker and it ran very hot, but I could have sold it for more now. I sold it right before Bulldozer released. Talk about a gamble gone wrong.

I took out my fustrations by nuking my bulldozer to the max. I pushed 1.8v through it on air (see CPU-Z validation in my sig) but it just wouldn't DIE, it only got FAST, and HOT, lol.
