Hi, i have a 4th gen p4 in a computer that pretty much has no use, I really only use it when my gf brings her friends over to play games, they are all into wow. I have 4 computers not including my own with good hardware, the slowest computer has an fx 6300 and a gtx 660. But myself and my gf take up 2 of the 5 computers, then if she brings more than one friend all of the computers get taken up. The reason i asked about the two cards is my friend owned his own shop, and he still has stuff left over. He said the 460 would be 30 new or the 470 would be $60 new. I was thinking about buying it because my friend wants to start coming over to game as well but I only have the P4 computer left, it has 8 gigs of ram also. So how would these two cards be with a p4 for wow.

I assume it's a Dual Core CPU?

In that case it will bottle neck the GPU. The GTX 470 will not be much better.

Those are older CPU cores based off the first gen Core (Westmere etc)

Haswell will do a lot lot better, Toms test are done with a Titan which is eons faster than the 470

You can see BF4 is graphics limited while even in CPU heavy game like Metro Last Light, the Pentium stock holds it's own

Here is a more comprehensive benchmark suite

There will be bottlenecks but it really depends on the game and in most cases shouldn't be anything major

Thing is dual core vs more cores also has to take into account IPC/efficiency and game coding
You can see how the quad core AMD 750K is basically the same as the dual core Pentium even in Metro Last Light which can make use of the extra cores (as shown by how i3 and i5 scale up)
