I got the photo printer all set up (took me hours because it is 3 years old but still in the plastic, never used). I got it all hooked up then realized that my brand new hp (windows8) laptop does not have a 4 point Firewire. I am under the gun with a STATE job application that is due by the end of this week. PLEASE, someone out there help me to fix this. I have the USB connected to my pc already, but the additional firewire is apparently needed also.

Please list the make & model of your printer so that others may better assist you. I'm not aware of any printers that use firewire. Firewire is usually used in high speed devices like disk drives, not printers. Are you sure the printer requires firewire?

Epson and Canon (to name 2) produce (or at least produced) some professional grade gear with firewire ports. However, they also have USB ports that will work just fine.
