You have an old motherboard for sure.Eventhough the PCI-e are generation behind it won't be a deal-breaker.Assuming that it is a LGA-775 mobo,you maybe running Core-2 Duo/Quad or extreme.For those CPU's anything above GTX 760 or R9 270X will be a waste,since you won't get full out of them.
If CPU was mentioned,it would be really nice.Then again,I would go nothing above those 2 cards even if you have Core 2 Extreme OC'ed.My E7500 @ 3.75 GHz can barely keep up with GTX 650.So there you go.....
EDIT-Since you're in India you may find good deals in Flipkart,Snapdeal,IT wares and SMC international.Even Amazon maybe good at times.You will definitely observe boost in games with GPU.But I highly recommend getting to over a new platform if possible!
