I'm looking to build a gaming pc that's moderately future-proof. I'm only at 1080p with my monitor currently and play games like Skyrim, Metro Last Light and Dark Souls. I'd like to keep the system as quiet and cool as possible..

I should mention that I'm a total noob with pc builds, so feedback is truly appreciated. I'm comfortable with the price point but am interested in hearing any suggestions (upgrades or swaps) that would improve quietness & performance at this price point.

Thoughts on these specs?:

Seasonic X-850(SS-850KM Active PFC F3) 850W 80 Plus Gold ATX12V/EPS12V Power Supply

ASUS Direct CU II Thermal Design with Direct-GPU Contact 10mm Copper Heat Pipe Graphics Card GTX780-DC2OC-3GD5

Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2133 MHz (PC3 17000) Desktop, Red

I need to add a cpu cooler and I'll throw in some harddrives I already have to compliment the SSD.

Est. Cost: $1800.00
Thoughts for these specs on a Gaming PC?

Updates: I should also mention that I expect to do some programming on this box as well (Visual Studio, IIS, SQL Server) and can see doubling up on the video card (SLI) in a year or two if I get deeper into gaming, thus the beefier power supply and Memory. Not planning to overclock to CPU.

Solution
Either get a 4790k cpu or a H97 motherboard. For gaming an i5 4690k is plenty.

You only need a 600W power supply. Get the Seasonic 620 or 650

For gaming 2 x 4gb cl 9 1.5V 1866 ram is good.

I agree with this, but the OP didnt state if he was looking to overclock or not. If so, then I think the 850W is good.

I'm by no means a expert (or even novice) when it comes to motherboards, but from the few reviews I read about the board, it seemed it had more to offer than just the ability to overclock, which I'm not planning on doing. Does this board have no other compelling reasons to purchase it if I'm not overclocking? If price weren't an issue and neither was overclock ability, what do think the best mobo(s) would be?

Again, I haven't really done a lot of reading on mobos just yet.
