Laptop not connecting to internet with WiFi

Hi guys, I am having the same issue. Other devices connect to internet via wifi router but Not my laptop - although it does 'see' the router.
I have deleted router and reconnected with cable. Still no joy via WiFi.
Any step by step help would be appreciated.

Hi silentpartner,
many thnak for responding.
laptop sees the internet when connected direct to router with cable.
When I go to 'view avaialble WiFi networks' it sees mine and says it is 'connected'.
i have disconnected my router and deleted then after rebooting have reconnected.
When pull the cable the internet connection stops

Hiya
When I look at WiFi connections it shows my router as connected - BUT not internet.

I had a 'internet dongle' installed previously which I have now uninstalled.
I wonder if the shop where I got the dongle have 'changed a setting to prevent it from connecting vis WiFi??
