Possible Fumes From Display

Hi, I have a bit of an unusual problem. Just looking for direction on what my next step should be.

I was using my computer on a hot summer's day. Eventually I noticed that -something- was very slowly filling the room with the odor of burning plastic. So I left and aired out the room for several hours, took apart the computer, examined all the capacitors for signs of bulging, and starting things back up again. I've determined that my computer itself is O.K.

It would seem that my LCD display was the culprit. I've been using this 27" hannspree display for years and just now noticed that in this summer heat the display began feeling hot to the touch, and apparently... Filled the room with fumes.

Provided this never happens again after being thoroughly dusted, while also kept in a reasonably air conditioned room, should I continue using this display or is it far too dangerous now?

Solution
Your computer monitor should never be hot to the touch. Overheating can damage the computer's internal components and results from a variety of factors; a damaged VGA cable, poor ventilation and dirty vents can all lead to an overheating monitor. Because most of the reasons for an overheated monitor are external, it can typically be remedied by cleaning the monitor and ensuring it has proper air flow, helping it cool down to safer levels.

now as u have dusted your monitor and kept it in a ac room watch it for few days if it happens again in these circumstances then it can be an internal problem and then u have to repair it..

Update:

Today I have developed what's called heat rash. This is what happens when you remain in a hot environment and sweat too much at once. It would seem the hot room literally caused my display to overheat by itself. After further research it seems that hannspree displays have a design defect/manufacturing error which cause their monitors to run far too hot.

The display no longer feels hot to the touch now that it's been running all day in an air conditioned room - I haven't even dusted the monitor yet.

Why dont you call your manufacturer to tell them your concerns. I'm sure they will be understanding about it.
