My cpu runs at 66 degrees celsius which is an i7 4790 with a coolermaster hyper 212x during prime 95, is this too hot should i replace thermal paste

Stress tests usually make CPU's run HOT.

That's not hot at all for that cpu during a stress test. You are fine.

Nope, 66 C is pretty decent for a stress test. IIRC max temp for that chip is 100 C I believe, so good to go.

it's fine. if you have dobt you can reapply, but if it goes above this temp, you might want to consider reappling ;)  :D

You're running Prime95, you're supposed to get these higher values. But there is nothing wrong with 66c, that sounds good for a 212 evo for your cpu.

You're not going to get these temperatures when you perform normal tasks such as playing games.

The temps seem perfectly fine. I believe the safe thermal threshold for that cpu is around 90 C. So you are doing great and shouldn't need to reapply thermal paste. Nothing heats up a processor more than a stress test.

ok im just worried cos it says max temp i should have is 72 and im pretty close.
When mounting the hyper 212x i put a little to much paste on and it smudged plus the heatsing wriggled quite abit
thanksguys its just my first time building and didnt no what to expect
