Hello guys.
Im going to buy a computer, and i am not sure choosing an i5 4670k and a gtx 770 or an i7 4770k and a gtx 760. The other compinents will be: motherboard: msi z97 gaming 5
8gb g.skill ripjawksX cl9 RAM, 1tb seagate hdd and a 250 gb samsung 840 evo, and a coolermaster 412s for cooling
I will use it for gaming (minecraft, BF4, CoD...) and for video editing and rendering
Please suggest me what i should buy. Thanks

The 280x is actually almost on par with the 770 and actually performs better in AMD optimized games specifically Mantle games. The 770 will perform about 10% better in just about most other games. In editing and rendering applications, though, you might see better performance from the 280x simply because it has more VRAM (3GB vs 2GB) and a better memory bus (384-bit vs 256-bit). The 280x also has the advantage of more shaders (2,048 vs 1,536) which translates into more raw power for parallel...

Definitely i5 4670k and a gtx 770. The 4770k will offer better performance in video editing and rendering but doesn't really justify the drop in graphics performance that the 760 brings compared to the 770.

yeah, i5 + 770. The i5 should render and edit just fine. Unless you are doing it all day long and working with hours and hours of video, you will only be saving a minute or two with a i7. But, to professionals who need their work completed as fast as possible and who work with hours of video, those minutes are valuable. The question is, would you rather have better gaming performance or better work performance? If the answer is "a", go with the i5 + 770.

The 280x also has the advantage of more shaders (2,048 vs 1,536) which translates into more raw power for parallel computing. When you look at the benchmarks on this page (link) you will notice that even a 270x is significantly better than a 770 and even a 780 in rendering times (lower is better) and just plain raw compute power. This is mostly due to the fundamental design differences between AMD's stream processors and Nvidia's CUDA cores. I'm not exactly sure about the details but when everyone was mining with their GPUs last year, AMD cards were way better at it because each CUDA core had to do something like 3 steps more vs the Stream processor which made it nearly 3x faster at mining. A lot of the issues with the 280x were due to the reference cooler which typically ran hot. If you get a non-reference card, you should get better temps. They also have improved the drivers as well. I've seen non-reference 280x's for as little as $175 since people who hoarded them for mining are desperate to get rid of them. There are deals like this $195 Asus on ebay all day long now (link).

The Windows scores are meaningless. Look at benchmarks like Passmark for more accurate representations of the differences in performance between CPUs: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/

An i7 would probably last about as long as an i5. Again, all you are getting with HT is a few minutes off your rendering times. If you really want a significantly faster overall CPU, you would have to look at LGA 2011 extreme CPUs with 6 cores. Those would last you much longer.

Thank you club_fanatic for your suggestion.
I think the LGA 2011 socket is too expensive. Whould you make me the cheapest PC with that socket?
I only have 1100€ budget to buy a computer, so what combination of components will be to have not any problem like the famous "bottle-neck".
I need a keyboard and a mouse too, and i want intel and nvidia for microprocesing and graphics
Thank you guys

i´ve Gigabyte 280X OC Version and it is a very good card! I never test GTX770 but 280x is more cheap than GTX770 and performance its similar..

if i have your Budget i buy a rig like my... :p
I spend that money on my rig 1 mouth ago...

i5 4670k, CM Hyper 212 EVO, MSI Z97 Gaming 5, Gigabye R9 280X Windforce OC Version, G-Skill 2x4G Ripjaws 2133, Corsair CX-600W +80, Zalman Z3 Plus Black, Benq RL2455HM 24", 2x HDD Seagate 1TB Barracuda 64MB 7200RPM.

cub_fanatic say everthing about 280x vs GTX770!

If you are on a budget, then just forget about LGA2011. You would need to spend a minimum of
$600 on a 6 core CPU and $200+ on a motherboard. That is $800 (600€) on just those two parts. Add a video card, RAM and SSD an you are already over budget. You can get a quad core 2011 CPU but a 4770k would be about the same. The only reason to get a quad 2011 is if you need to use more than 32GB o RAM. I'd just stick with LGA1150. You need to decide if work or gaming is more important to you. Is the extra money for an i7 is worth it for you? Or, you can just get the i7 and the 280x and be done with it. You wouldn't have sacrificed much for gaming or work but it will cost you a bit more. That's what I would get if I needed a PC for gaming as well as rendering and editing.

I only have 1100€ to spend on it,
Thanks!
