I have a similar problem as this person here
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2087244/display-inverter-graphics-card.html
but not *the same* problem, symptomatically. I am running a HP G60-445dx. I went to bed last night with the computer operating perfectly fine and when I went to open it to work from bed the following evening the display was just white. No lines, no cracks, just white. I'm actually on HDMI right now, but I am planning on calling around to get estimates on a repair. I'm wondering if it is the inverter as well. I googled some troubleshooting solutions before seeking support from anyone. Here are the steps that I took:
1) removed the battery
2) held down the power button for 30-60 seconds
3)leaving the battery out, plug the notebook back in
4)boot the unit
5) after booting the unit shut down the unit replace the battery and reboot unit again with the battery installed.

When I did this *the first time* the display did indeed return to normal... for about 30 seconds once it was on DC again. After thirty seconds, the white spot appeared in the middle of my screen and quickly spread toward the edges. Therefore I know the LCD is working (in theory). I know my graphics card and control boards are working because I am on HDMI and using the notebook computer in question at the moment. There are no apparent cracks or obvious damages to the screen which would indicate a damaged LCD and considering I've not been noticing any problems with the screen up to this point, it can't be the LCD, right?

I may know a bit about IT (especially troubleshooting) but I have *never* had this particular problem before. This does sound like an inverter problem, correct? I just want to double check before I go spending any money I can't really afford on parts and installation.
I would also like to add that I already know that it isn't the display drivers, because I already ran a diagnostic and that diagnostic said they are all running perfectly fine. (This is quantified by the fact that I am using the computer on external display, I might add.)
