hey guys,

got a chance to buy one of these GPUs for a similar price (about 500$). I have to choose between the GTX690 4gb, GTX780 6gb or the 780ti with 3gb. Whats the best choice for 2k gaming and video editing?

Thanks - woe.

I'd say the GTX 780Ti 3GB is the best one for 2k. The GTX 690 is more powerful if the game happens to scale well with SLI, but it's going to run out of VRAM in 2k (it can only use 2GB of its memory since it's 2GB/GPU). The GTX 780 6GB would be good for higher resolutions, but the extra VRAM is really unnecessary in 2k.

well, are games like battlefield, watch dogs, AC (pretty much anything from EA, Ubisoft) well optimized for a 690? at the time i'm not playing that much games that would need 4gb of vram, such as nfs carbon, doom etc. or should i wait for the 800 series?

BF3/4? Sure, since they've been out for a while. Watch Dogs? Not so much. SLI support is usually not very good when a game is released. I'd just go for the 780Ti. Sure the GTX 690 might have a bit more power, but it's just too overpriced; It's equal to the GTX 770 in 2-way SLI and it costs as much as 3-way SLI with those cards.

780 Ti. With a good OC its more powerful than the 690, without worrying about SLI profiles or vram usage.

but I got a chance to buy any of these cards for 500$. I dont know, one 780ti for 2k is good enough but in a few years when 4k becomes affordable would i just need to buy another 780ti and it'd be still good enough?

Yes, two 780Ti cards should be good enough for 4K, although not on the highest settings.

what would be enough then? I mean dual titan blacks is no topic for me. they're way too expensive.

SLI 780 Ti works ok at 4k, but I would really wait for next gen cards for 4k, as they will have much more vram needed for the super high resolutions (and obviously more power).

That's the thing, current hardware hasn't caught up to 4k yet. You could do as RobCrezz says, or just get the GTX 780Ti and then change it to the best GPU available when you switch to 4k, that should work as well.
