help me: 5GB instead of 7GB!

I have faced with a problem. I have installed 3*1 + 2*2 GB of Corsair memory on my mobo, and CPU-Z shows 7GB, but windows 8.1 64bit and bios shows 5GB. When I change the slots it shows 7GB but after some restarts it shows 5GB again. I have tested all the slots and modules and all are functioning correctly. What is the solution? Thanks for your help.

If you want it to report correctly, just use identical ram in each slot.

is the ram all the frequency? as in 1333mhz?

use same speed timings voltages , identical model number , this will avoid most incompatability issues

all the modules are corsair xms3 1600 Mhz

That's a 3 x 2gb kit not 2 x 2 plus 3 x 1 as in your opening post. If you don't provide the correct info, then we can't help you.

Sorry, but I thought it is clear. The capacity doesn't change the situation. I have 3*1+2*2 of this model. Only the capacities are different. Model, Timing, Voltage and Frequency are the same. (1GB modules are outdated and I couldn't find a link to show, but it doesn't matter)

One of 3*2Gb modules was broken 2 years ago and from then I can use only 2 of them (which means 2*2GB). Are the descriptions clear?

OK - I'm convinced - same timings and voltage. The its probably just the fact that they are different capacities that it causing the problem.

Do the 2 x 2 gb work 100% OK by themselves?

No - 3 x 2 = 6gb should work.

No - what I'm saying is that I think having different size modules (2 and 1 gb) causes the reporting problems you said you have.

use your 3x2gb and get another 3x2gb for your x58 board
memory of the same capacity will work best for your triple channel ram

I don't think you can - it's triple channel memory - 6 dimm slots. I think you can do 3 x 2 or 3 x 4.
