Hello,

Yesterday when I wanted to watch a movie on my television (an old Philips LCD tv) I unplugged my main monitor (I have two) and plugged another HDMI cable into my Graphics card and into my TV.

It worked just fine. I watched the movie and was a happy chap.

Then I went back and plugged my Main monitor back in with it's own HDMI cable and played some games. This also worked fine.

But when I decided to watch yet another movie and wanted to plug my TV back in, it decided to quit on me. My tv was recognized for a quick second (that windows sound when you plug something in) and then it gave me that disconnect sound. Since then, both my monitor and TV aren't recognized anymore, nothing happens when I plug any HDMI cable from and to any of these devices to my Computer.

After some troubleshooting and hours of frustration I decided to plug my HDMI cable into my secondary monitor who works fine with the DVI port. So I plugged the monitor in with BOTH the DVI and HDMI cable, my pc recognized both!
So I lowered all the settings to the lowest and played around with the herz, every time I would check if it worked by unplugging my secondary HDMI cable and putting it into my main Monitor.

Nothing... Even with a different HDMI cable nothing works.

Here are some more things I tried:

- Uninstalled all the video drivers.

- Reverted back to older versions of Catalyst and AMD drivers.

- Installed the newest driver.

- Installed the latest Beta driver.

- Tested my main monitor with a VGA cable. That worked but could only get low resolutions.

- Cleaned my Graphics card.

- Removed my card and put it back in.

Nothing worked :(

Well except putting the HDMI cable into my monitor together with a DVI cable.

I must've rebooted a hundred times because after every change I made, I did a reboot just to be sure.

I'm at a loss... Maybe you guys can help me out!

Thans in advance!

Edit: I forgot to mention that the HDMI output to my monitor always worked fine ever since I bought this graphics card. Also, it has been a long time (about 6 months, maybe more) that I plugged my tv in, never gave me any trouble aswell.

I already did. Also didn't work.
It's weird because how come this cable I have now worked for so long, I've changed nothing to it except pulling it out. There's no chance I might have broken it because it does work on my second screen, but only when it's also connected via DVI.

Cables like HDMI and especially SATA have a limited number of plug-in cycles. This number is quite low; sometimes as low as 50 cycles. They are designed to be plugged in and left plugged in. There are no contact springs inside the couplers; just friction devices with some compliance.
