My MSI GTX560(Non-Ti) 1GB card died yesterday. I am thinking of buying R9 270X 2GB soon. Is it worth the upgrade from gtx560? This will be my first AMD/Ati card.
And do hd videos/movies run fine with ati cards(Dxva)?

My system specs:
Intel Core i5 2500K CPU
Corsair 600GS PSU
Biostar Tz68K mobo
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Yeah that would be a good upgrade. I would consider the GTX 760 also.

Also, if you havent already, get a good CPU cooler and overclock that 2500k! Its one of the best overclocking CPUS.

Even your integrated cpu graphics will run hd videos.

The R9-270X is a good upgrade from a performance point of view.
One negative is that you will need to do a driver swap.
Not a problem if you are experienced there. If not, a nvidia card would just drop in.
I might consider a GTX760 if that bothers you.

i do believe the 660TI has dropped in price from before and is now around 150? Maybe that could be something OP could look into? The 760 is around 250 and honestly the 660 is a great card for the price.

Yup.
In graphics cards you get decent value at every price point. It sees like there is a card for every $20 bracket. It is a very competitive market.

The main caveat for the OP is to buy a card that will be a significant jump over the old card or he may be disappointed. I would put that minimally at the GTX660 or R9-270 level. A bit more would be better.

if the price drops enough couldn't OP see if he could SLI 2x660TI? I know they support two way sli

Dual cards are prone to stuttering and tearing.
I would avoid that solution so long as a good single card will do the job.

I suggest the 760 like he said then. Does it only come in a 2GB variant?

Thanks for the replies guys. GTX 760 is little over my budget and I don't wanna buy another nvidia card(bought 4 cards from them in the last 9 yrs ;) ). Will go for R9 270X and I will get 2 games of my choice(including BF4) for free with it.
