PSN works on the network, meaning i can download games and stream movies on my PS4, but online matchmaking doesn't work for any of my games. i have a wireless router i just bought to try to hook up to the network and fiddle with it to try to open ports or set up a vpn with my parents' network, but they surprised me telling me they're moving so that won't be set up again for roughly a month or 2 as internet isn't important to them as they both travel near constantly for their jobs. will i be able to get matchmaking to work on my college network? it's a small college and i imagine security isn't too awefully tight. i think there are roughly 3,000 students, but idk if a small budget for IT affects the security much or not. to be clear i don't want to impair network security and i don't need wifi, a LAN connection is fine as long as i can play online with my friends = )

ok that makes sense. sry i'm not very knowledgable past the basics in this field = (. so let's say i contact IT at school and they won't bother to open the ports i need...is that the end of the road for me? as far as i know they won't let me pay for my own internet separate from the school's, but maybe it's different for married student housing apartments (which i just got in). i'll be sure to ask, but if there's any way i can possibly get online matchmaking to work if they won't open ports for me i would love to know! also thanks for the reply
