Hi :)
I've had troubles with this before, and it was caused by a file called stij.exe and I managed to remove it, but it came back a couple of times.
The problems I'm having now are identical to when I had problems before with stij.exe, but this time I can't see any stij.exe in the processes tab for windows task manager. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this? Are there any other files like stij.exe that cause the same problem?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

What are the specs of your system? What games does this happen in? On what settings and resolution?
Try running a scan with Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Specs are
Windows XP Home Edition
3GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+

It happens on all of my games. I have to run all of them on the lowest possible settings because my PC is so old :p  haha

Now running the scan :)

OK, if the scan doesn't help, you might have some overheating issues. You can download HWMonitor to keep an eye on your temps while gaming.

Thanks for the advice :)
Hopefully the scan will work, because I'm certain it is malware causing it. Like I said in the first post, it's identical to the problems I've had before with stij.exe. If I don't move the mouse, the game runs fine, it's only when the mouse is moving that the performance goes all choppy.

All of them. Tried it with Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Counter Strike: Source, both of these games ran perfectly less than 12 hours ago :p

Even when I'm scrolling up and down through my library on steam, if I move the mouse it goes choppy.

As I just stated in the other post, it only happens when I move the mouse. If I leave the mouse alone, everything runs fine.

It was indeed malware! Thanks very much for the help guys. The scan deleted the problem :)
