Depends on what resolution and which graphics card.

But two 3GB VRAM graphics card still only give you 3GB VRAM.

Raw performance when you are using less than 3GB of video RAM the dual cards would win, but if you had something like a crazy texture pack where you need 4-5GB of RAM and you are running at crazy high resolutions the 6GB card would win hands down. So like ksham said, it really depends on your usage.

Yep, agree with these two, but the two video cards would nearly always perform better because basically nothing except Skyrim with a ton of 4k textures would use more than 3gb vram. This is of course if they're the same graphics cards, if it was for example two R9 270s crossfired vs one r9 290 then performance would be different.

Having more VRAM doesn't automatically translate into better performance. You also need to consider the type of memory in use and the size of the memory bus (memory speed). 6GB DDR3 doesn't come close to 2GB GDDR5. Likewise, 6GB GDDR5 will be useless if the memory bus is only 128-bit.

2GB GDDR5 is, in most cases, plenty for 1080p gaming. You only really need the extra VRAM if you go to resolutions beyond that. Are you looking at any particular graphics cards?

The answer will still be the same unless you give us additional information on how you plan on using these GPUs.

Yes; you already said that.

GTX 780 3GB SLI will be much faster than one GTX 780 6GB. That is an unfair comparison because GTX 780 3GB SLI costs about 50% more than a single GTX 780 6GB. They're not the same in price; so I assumed you thought that two GTX 780 at 3GB VRAM each means you get 6GB VRAM total. That is NOT true. You will still only get a total of 3GB VRAM.

That said, 6GB VRAM does have its use but without knowing what you plan on using the graphics card for, there is no way for us to determine which one is sufficient for your use case.

Sorry, I'm still pretty new to all this. Well I'm planning to use it for gaming. Resolution I'm not too sure but if I'm gonna get a video card like that, I will get the best monitor to go with it. Any suggestions on what is the best monitor? I'm looking at a 27 inch.

So I'll assume 27" 1440p and gaming? GTX 780 3GB SLI.

As for monitor, do you have a budget? How about this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009C3M7H0
