Plz help selecting motherboard? Power issues!

I have bought an i5 4440 and corsair cx500
i m short of money,so i cant afford B-85 mobos

Gigabyte h81m-s1 is within my range, but it has only 4-pin connection for cpu(atx or eps).
Is it good enough(going to use integrated hd 4600)?

Or should i save on ram buying kingston 1600/CL10 ram instead of corsair vengeance 1600/CL9 and buy h81m-s2pv which has 8 pin connector?

Plz help.

  1. Yes; that is fine. Just plug in one of the (4+4)-pin EPS 12V cable. Since you're not overclocking, a 4-pin connection is fine.

    Thanks for the help.

I wanted to ask another thing:- Is it wise to spend money on corsair 1600/CL8 ram than cheaper kingston 1600/CL10 expecting that it would improve frame rates a little with hd 4600?
    thank you
  3. CL8 would yield (ever-so-slightly) better performance overall (assuming we are talking about gaming). Whether it was worth the money, I don't know. What are the prices?
  4. Cl8 costs me Rs.6000 i.e 100$
    cl10(kingston) costs me rs.4800 i.e. 80$

It isn't all that much different, I would pick the CL8 RAM, though. For the i5-4440, you are perfectly fine with only 4 pins. That will give it more than enough power.

Hmm ... are you buying them from flipkart? snapdeals?
  7. no from shops in my area
i only like to buy from Flipkart WS retail on which these things aren't available

Is there no options for CL9? I wouldn't say CL8 is worth $20 more than CL10 in gaming performance. But if you can't allocate that $20 toward something better for the motherboard, then it's fine to spend the extra $20 on CL8.

For gaming, CL9 and CL8 is the sweet spot, but Flipkart only sells CL9 Corsair Vengeance. That is the best you will get. G.Skill Ripjaws X CL9 is there, too.
