As you said, and me and others have also said, standard motherboards are designed for push-pin only.
If you want to reuse your HP's heatsink, you need to check if its mounting hardware has a hole layout compatible with standard motherboards and that everything actually fits on standard motherboards. If it does not, you are out of luck and will need to buy an aftermarket HSF.
