where is my CPU overclock stored?

So i was wondering if my cpu-overclockspeed is stored on my MB or CPU. for eksample, if i swap MB would the clockspeed on my cpu stay at my clock, or go back to factory settings?

In your CMOS chip on your motherboard, which you can also reset with jumper or by pulling the battery out for a minute.

so if my friend were to use my current CPU in his MB, he would not be using same clockspeed, as what ive chosen for my pc?
