okay so i bought a 400 dollar computer last night...values at 1700 or so.

this guy built it not knowing crap really.....cable management was horrible.

he has windows 7 pro running on this machine.... i want to do a clean install but when i looked at the box it is an upgrade..... so how can i do a clean install as i don't have the original o.s he was running and don't have a spare disc myself...i do have my 7 home disc but that's for my main computer.

i want to completely wipe everything and start fresh as this guy didnt know what he was doing....its booting from the cd/writer instead of the ssd.

so can i wipe everything and just use the install (upgrade) disc to do a fresh install or do i need a previous activated os on the machine to do so.

If you are going to install the OS from a upgrade disk then yes you do need a current OS installed.

If its booting from the CD/writter and there is an OS on the SSD you can change the Boot order from within the BIOS. Then you could use the upgrade disk.

What does cable management have to do with anything? My computer doesn't have great cable management.

You should be able to fix that in the BIOS.

You need the OS to do an upgrade.

I wouldn't call the guy who built it "not knowing what he was doing" unless you know better. Was there a reason to buy it? Were the components poor? I fail to understand what part of that name-calling is justified here.

Hi

Do you have the original win 7 pro upgrade DVD or a pack with both 32 & 64 bit DVD

If so a bit of googling will show you how to do a clean install with the upgrade DVD but without a earlier installed windows .

Make sure you have the motherboard driver cd available

I find it hard to see what you can improve on unless there a lot of useless extra programs installed by builder in order to make money from shareware marketing companies & anti virus companies .

There are programs specifically to remove crapware their name for it not mine

What is the spec and make of motherboard & graphics card, psu , SSD & hard disk?
( the most important parts except for CPU which only come from Intel or AMD but could be a celeron or pentium rather than i3 or i5)
