So I installed BackTrack 5 R3 on VirtualBox.
I'm currently using it on a laptop with a built-in wireless adapter (Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn WiFi Adapter).
The problem is that although I can access the internet on BackTrack through Mozilla, when I type in "airmon-ng" in the konsole, it just displays an empty list of interfaces. I really don't know why it's not detecting my wireless adapter.

Please help ASAP.
Thanks.

VirtualBox emulates a wired ethernet device, not a wireless device.

So what should I do in order to run airmon-ng?

It's probably better to run penetration testing software on real hardware. I'm always surprised at the number of people who have the need for such specialized software.

1) backtrack is depreciated. Use 'Kali Linux' instead.

2) just boot a livecd/usb. No reason to muck about with virtual box..
