I have looked online for information on setting up two routers on the same network, but none seem to answer my questions. I have a Comcast cable modem with integrated Wireless/4 port LAN router. Before getting this modem I had already bought a Linksys AC1750, so naturally I want to use the Linksys for my main WiFi use. I would like to do the following, but need help in the setup.

1) Have the Modem/Router setup with WEP for Nintendo DS connections.
2) Have 2.4 and 5 GHz setup on the Linksys 2nd router, in which is currently setup.
3) Prevent NAT conflicts on LAN. So probably bridge the LAN, but not WiFi.

In other words, I would like to connect LAN to LAN, but also have separate WiFi. Any advice on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Turn off all devices on the LAN except your PC. Note the MAC address of your PC (this should be in the router's setup). Next, plug in the Linksys AC1750, and you should see a new MAC address - you should set up a reserved IP address for your router (i.e. 192.168.1.2), and the router will only give your Linksys AC1750 that IP address (to setup the router, you will then go to 192.168.1.2 to access the setup). On page 37 of the manual, it shows how to configure the router as an access point (the comcast router will assign all IP addresses automatically via DHCP).

I have seen instructions on disabling DHCP. What exactly do you mean by reserve the IP address for my router? I have seen different instructions on this. If the first router is 192.168.1.1 then what should I do with the second router? Also do I plug the ethernet cable from router 1 into the internet port of router 2 or into one of the ethernet ports? I have seen instructions that mention both.

I setup my network by reserving IP addresses for each PC and device on the LAN - it makes it easier to see if an "unauthorized" person is accessing the network - and also with programs like Synergy (software KVM) require the IP address to function - and it can't change. I also have Google Chromecast, Windows Media Center, cable card tuners, etc....that work best when a static IP is assigned internally to the device.
