I have the AMD Fx 8350 CPU 4.3Ghz and r9 270x 1100MHz 8gb 1600 MHz RAM and i have 100 fps on Minecraft on max settings with optifine. I have no problem playing with this FPS but i expected a LOT more fps with this config and I wanted to ask if this FPS is normal with these specs and if there's any way to increase it without changing the game settings.
Edit: A friend of mine is getting 200 fps with a8-6600k 4.5GHz and gtx 660 non ti.

Are you sure that the fps limiter is turned off in the settings of Minecraft?

Yes, it is set to unlimited. The fps i'm getting is around 80-120.

Yeah, there is definitely something wrong there... What is your RAM/CPU/GPU usage while playing Minecraft? Are you experiencing bad performance in other games as well?

Here are the CPU, GPU usages: http://prntscr.com/3yrct0. I have 60-80 Fps in battlefield 3 Ultra Settings. 120 Fps in League of Legends Very High Settings. 150+ fps on CS:GO highest settings.

Here is a screenshot of my minecraft settings: http://prntscr.com/3yrduc

Odd indeed. Try lowering the amount of allocated memory; I've heard about some people having performance issues because they allocated too much memory.

Changed it to 1GB RAM and the fps is the same

Are you running 64-bit Java? Try using some older versions of Minecraft (you can change that in the launcher options, right?), it might just be a bug of some sort.

Tried an older version of Minecraft - no difference. I think i have both 64 bit and 32 bit Javas installed.

Remove the 32-bit version and see if that makes a difference.

This is probably caused by either something obvious that we failed to notice or something on the software level; I'm running out of ideas here, if nothing has worked this far, it might just be something you can't fix (for now).

I removed it but it didn't change anything. Doesn't really matter, I'll be fine with this fps anyway :) . I'm currently trying to overclock my GPU from 1100 base clock to 1200 but it always crashes. MSI Afterburner doesn't let me change the voltage even if i check the option in the settings. Any ideas how to allow voltage increasing in MSI Afterburner?

Latest beta of MSI Afterburner or latest beta driver for video card? If latest beta of MSI Afterburner where exactly can I find it?

whats your cpu temp? and what motherboard do you have?

if the cpu is overheating it can be throttling, or the motherboard might not be providing a high enough and stable voltage to run the processor at its full speed

For afterburner. Go into the settings of MSI Afterburner and make sure that it checks for updates on start up, and that it includes the betas. Then restart Afterburner and it should prompt you to download the latest version.

@jshoop: Doesn't seem to be throttling:

My motherboard is ASrock 990fx Extreme 3. I checked the box and restarted and it says that i already have the latest version but it still doesn't work.

oh wow, didnt even see the cpu-z. it isnt throttling, your actually getting boosted a little (unless you overclocked a little)

minecraft is cpu bound so overclocking your gpu won't help much. try overclocking your cpu (if your motherboard and cooling are up to it) and see if you get a boost there

I'm using ASrock X-Boost which auto overclocks it to 4.3GHz but i'm afraid i won't be able to overclock it more because i'm using the regular CPU cooler that comes with the CPU and my motherboard is not very good for overclocking.

yea, you dont want to push either of those. what temps are you getting on the processor after playing for a while?

was the screenshot taken just after opening the game or after playing for some time?

It was taken just after opening the game. I'm getting about 50 degrees celsius after playing BF3 for a while.

Sorry to post in an old thread, but did you find a solution? Having similar problems with similar specs.

Nope. I'm using a 60hz monitor so it doesn't really matter if I go above 60 fps but I still was expecting a lot more fps with my specs.

Turn on Advanced OpenGL to either fast or fancy.

If you have a monitor with a refresh rate of 60hz, the figures you have stated don't matter
