Could my 500w EVGA 80 Plus PSU work with a 280x or would I need to buy a new PSU?. I'm just wondering because I want to save as much money as possible on upgrading.

Your PSU can run the 280x.

It has 40 amps on the 12v rail which is enough.

Ah, thanks. That knocks about £60 pounds off of the overall total which can leave me room to buy maybe a new monitor.
