  • My friend claims that his overclocked RAM (1600 → 2133) helps with his Minecraft gameplay. Is this true? Should I OC my memory? I thought Minecraft was more CPU intensive because it was running off Java or something along those lines.

  • If I OC my RAM to 2133 from 1600 do I need heatsinks? Should I be worried about temperatures if I don't have any heatsinks?

Solution
Ocing DRAM is not really a big deal - if it is strong enough to OC, if not, generally it simply won't boot and all goes to defaults - if you have 1600 sticks (decent ones) they are probably CL9 or better, and timings may be like 9-9-9-24, to try OCing set freq to 1866, timings to 10-10-10-27, raise DRAM voltage + 0.05 above spec voltage and may need to add about the same to the MC

I wouldnt over clock your ram... I have mixed thoughts about minecraft being better with more ram being true because in the menu of minecraft you can allocate memory to the game or allow the game to use a certain amount of your memory. If i were you i would just increase the amount there and see if there is any difference.
