Hi all,

I'm looking to properly power my shiny new XFX R9 290 DD GPU. It has an 8 pin and 6 pin connector.

My PSU is a Corsair CX600M. It has one PCI-E 8 pin slot matched to one cable with two 6+2s in serial.

PCPartPicker says my system should pull around 450W of 600, card included.

Am I OK to try and power this card with these two PCI-E connections from the same cable?

Any help and advice is appreciated!

A 8 pin connector can deliver 150w, a 6 pin 75w, and the slot 75w. That totals 300w for the card.
A normal complement of parts can run on 150w or so.
I think you are good.
Since you have all the parts, go ahead and try it. The corsair cx line is not the best, but not bad either.
Look for artifacts which would be one of the symptoms of insufficient power.

Alrighty.

Just to be totally clear, it shouldn't matter (too much) that these two 6+2s are on the same cable?

Yes 1 cable should be fine.

The psu is designed that way to minimize cable clutter when a card needs two connectors.
Not to worry.
