Difference between Vapor-X R9 280-X cards?

I'm considering buying another R9 280-X to eventually crossfire with the one I already have. I currently own a Sapphire R9 280-X Vapor-X. The SKU is 11221-02-40G, and it has the dual fans with the back plate, and Hynix memory. Recently I decided to check the pricing of it, and noticed that Sapphire refreshed the Vapor-X with a Tri X cooler. It has a higher core clock and lost it's back plate, but appears to be the same card. I don't know much about crossfire, but I'm pretty sure they would work fine together. The dual fan version is always more expensive compared to the triple fan one. Are there any reported issues with the refreshed version or is it just because the dual fan version is rare because it isn't being made anymore? I know the version I have was considered a very solid card, but I can't find any real info on the new version.

Here the review of the R9 280X VaporX Trix

Probably cheaper to manufacture without the backplate.

Thanks for that link, very thorough review they did there! It looks to be the same card, the memory is under clocked from the 1550 MHz mine came with, but they got similar overclocking results as I did. Without the back plate, I'll just have to put my current one on the top so I can see it hahaha. That probably is the price difference too, I never really thought about that.
