Hello everyone!

I want to upgrade the ram on my working computer, i currently have GSKILL 4GB 1333Mhz, and the mother is a Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2V-B3. On the web they says it supports upto 16GB, but on the supported memory speeds and modules it does not mention a single 8GB module.

Anyone has tried it? I dont know if i should buy another 4gb 1333mhz or if i can run 2 8GB 1333mhz

Thanks for the help!

If you are running a 64 bit OS then it shouldn't be a problem. Having said that if you only have two DIMM slots, you have two choices 2 x4gb sticks for 8 Gb of ram, or 2 x 8 Gb sticks for 16 Gb. If you have four DIMM slots then you have a wider choice. Always use matched pairs or sets of Ram when you install it.

Im usually rendering with Rhinoceros, 3DS MAX, Photoshop and lightroom, and now im starting to use Premier Pro for video editing, and its taking a lot of time to process. The board has 2 DIMM slots, so Thanks for all the great advise, i think im gonna do the 1x8GB on the first slot, and keep the 4GB on the other since i can´t find a matching module. Thanks everyone for the quick response!

Hi, My laptop is spec'd to have 8gig maximum ram and has two slots. I was wondering if I can upgrade to 16gig ram, 2 sticks of 8gig. will my laptop have troubles with that? will it pick it up? secondly, what will happen if I just put 8gig stick with 4gig stick? I work a lot with audio editing softwares like pro tools and Cubase. I'm using Samsung NP rv511...thanks

First, you do not want to use an 8Gb stick and a 4Gb stick. That is mismatched and you will in all lkelyhood lose the Dual Channel aspect and you don't want to do that. If you use two 8Gb sticks for 16 gb, one of two things will happen, 1) it will "see" and use al 16 Gb or 2) it will just run the max spec 8Gb, I have a lappy here that I just upgraded for a 32bit Vista Home Premium OS to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I only have 4 Gb of memory installed at the moment but wil upgrade that ( probably 8 Gb like I have in my other Laptop.
