Hey guys. My setup is 4770k, 2gb gtx 770, 750w psu, z87-d3h from gigabyte. Monitors are asus ve247h 1080p and a 19" aoc 720p. Every so often when I run my second monitor while gaming/streaming both monitors shutter periodically for 1 second every 10-15 min or so. Any thoughts??

More about : dual monitor shutter

Could you please explain more in depth about what happens when they shutter ? Are they flickering colors, turning off and on? that kind of stuff .

Are you OCing the GPU at all? by this I mean are you raising the clocks over what they were set at from the factory?

Gpu is factory settings. Both my monitors blink for 1 second every 10-15 min

Does this mean the turn off for 1 sec or off and on repeatedly during the 1 second, do they scroll up or down really quickly during the 1 sec do they go fussy at all? these are the details that will help us help you.

They both stay on. Only when I'm running both monitors while gaming and streaming do they freak out and "blink" every so often. Don't really know how to explain that much better

No heat issues ( running at 38c with 68% gpu usage )

sounds like a quick off and on, basically a few black frames get rendered kind of thing. Have you tried different drivers to see if the issue still happens with them?

I believe I've received around 3 updates and it's done it since the first time I updated that I can recall

I have had a problem when i turn my TV or lights on in the room the power would flicker for only the monitor's nothing else. I also had a mini fridge running out of the same socket on the wall as the monitors and i removed the fridge because it was broken and the problem never happened again. It was the strangest thing. :/

I have everything going into 1 socket. You think that could be the issue??

if you have more than one socket available just try and dedicate your monitors to it and PC to another :)

just as an Idea to bounce off everyone, does Nvidia have issues with 2 different screen sizes for monitors? AMD used to but have since fixed this with a catalyst driver update.

@OP is there a chance you could get your hands on a monitor for a a day to test if having the same resolution on both monitors fixes this?

Just try one monitor and see if it happens.

It only happens when I run both. But I only stream if I'm using both. And no I don't have the resources atm to get another monitor for testing

Yeah it seems like it is a resolution problem. Do you know the res of your monitors ???

AMD had no problem with dual monitors of different resolutions. You couldnt Eyefinity them, though, which is what they changed.

OP: this happens when you game on your 1080 with the streaming program on the 2nd monitor, right?

What program are you using to stream?

I have a 1080 for my gaming and a 720 for music/obs/twitch. And yes it only happens when I run my second monitor with those. I haven't tried turning my second monitor on w/o running those programs to see if it still does it.

Try turning off one program at a time to see if the issue persists. IF fter turn one program off and the issue persists turn it back on and try again. this will let you know if one program is causing the issue.

Can you try a different software in its place to be sure? Possibly a compatibility issue with another program running.

It's obs or xsplit. And obs is free and the better of the 2. And its weird it was doing it earlier even when i was running obs now it's not and I've been playin/streaming for over an hour
