Create a Guest Wireless Network using a 2nd router

I have a router 300ft away from my office and behind lots of concrete. I need to put up a guest network in my office. Do I setup a 2nd router with guest network access and attach it to the switch in my office? How will it know to route guest internet access to the distant router? The guest network has to be wireless, and guests must not have access to my personal LAN.

Well there are several ways to do this. The least expensive and easiest way to do it is to use an AP that has guest isolation. I am sure there are many but the only one I am familiar with is the Ubiquiti Unifi AP's. It is able to isolate guest from your network even when it is using the same subnet as your internal LAN. This way you don't have to use VLAn's and all the supporting equipment for that.

Set it up as an access point, plug it into your switch and put the routers IP in as the gateway. From there, thanks to good engineering, the IP protocol will take care of the rest.

How will this keep the guest off his network?

I was meaning to answer only a part of the overall question. That is if he sets it up an AP, as you suggested for instance "that has guest isolation," it would not require special networking to get back to his router. Is that correct? Or have I overstepped my skills here?

No you are right if it has a certain type of guest isolation. Most of the SOHO routers do guest isolation internal to the device and only work if they are the external router with the WAN going to the internet. So those would not work in AP mode trying to use guest isolation. I thought maybe you knew what type routers the OP was using.
