Is my upgrade compatible with my motherboard?

I've done some research but I'm still not 100% certain about some things.
My current CPU is the AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core 3.6Ghz Processor (95W)
My motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
My new CPU is going to be the FX-8350 8-Core 4Ghz Processor (125W)
I'm wondering if I have to upgrade my mobo too? I heard something about the wattages being very strict sometimes and I'm not certain it'll be fully compatible.

You dont HAVE to persay, but it would be a smart idea.
The older 780 chipsets dont agree with the FX lineup as well as newer boards.

The board you have should support the 125w tdp, the older version only supports 95.

If you do consider a new board, which I would, you may want to think of intel if you have the money. You are at the end of your upgrade path with AM3+.

So yeah, it's compatible. I'm post-upgrade now and I have a new question:
I put in the new cpu and a new after-market cooler, whole thing was a mess because it's my first time doing it on my home machine, which is my baby and all that. What should I expect my OS to be doing? Currently it's booted up to Windows 8.1 but it's just sitting there with that blue windows 8 logo like it's waiting for something to happen.. I'm not sure what's up. I heard the OS can take like half an hour to fix itself and orient to the new CPU? I've seen many different answers.
Update:
I restarted and this time it had a progress bar, booted up successfully and seems to be working fine. Thanks to you both for the info!
