Unknown program opens at start up and is stuck

Hello,

I was on my laptop gaming only last night, and it was working perfectly fine. However, this morning when I turned it on, an unknown program pops up after log in and takes up a majority of the screen and all it says is "please wait" with a loading circle and a cancel button at the bottom. I cannot click the cancel button and it is preventing me from accessing anything else. I have tried restarting multiple times, and this does not happen when I run it in safe mode. Not sure if it is relevant, but I did recently update to w8.1. Also I have an Asus Q550F

Please help me :(

then run it in safe mode and uninstall that software plus have u tried to use the taskmanager to end the program??if not then try it that way and after that in run type msonfig/startup and turn off the software at start up and one more thing are u using a windows 8.1 original version or a pirated downloaded version if u are using a pirated vertion turn off the automatic updates ....

Thanks for the reply. However, I'm not sure what software is causing this to happen. I did look through task manager to see what it was and nothing out of the normal stuck out to me. There isn't a program running. When I alt tab over to my desktop screen it will say desktop, but when i tab to the random program it has no title. The program will also just pop back up even if i tab over to task manager or my desktop screen. While I was in safe mode I turned off start up programs that I thought might be causing it however that did not work as well. Also, I downloaded w8.1 from the windows store.
