I'm building a new computer, but I've gotten stuck. The computer will not complete POST, and has never given out a video signal. There is a red light named "CPU_LED" that stays lit on the Mobo. This means there is a problem with the CPU section, according to the manual.

These are the parts:

Mobo: ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150

PSU: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 Haswell 3.2GHz LGA 1150

GPU: Radeon R9 270 2GB

RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600

Let me tell you what I have ALREADY DONE.

1. Read the manual
2. Made sure I plugged in the 8-pin CPU power connector
3. Used standoffs, and also (right now) using it out of the case on a non-conductive surface
4. Checked seating of video card
5. Made sure power was going to video card with 6 pin cord
6. Tried using 1 stick of ram, in all the different slots.
7. Made sure memory was fully inserted
8. Checked to make sure memory was supported by Mobo
9. Removed plastic guard over CPU socket
10. Double checked and reseated CPU
11. Thoroughly checked for bent pins both on the Mobo and on the CPU area of the motherboard, none found.
12. Checked Thermal Pasted
13. Made sure CPU fan plugged into the right spot
14. All protective covering was removed prior to installation.
15. I've removed all components down to bare bones to try to narrow down the problem.

Now this is where I am at now.

It appears that this motherboard does not support my CPU without a bios update. Only the most recent BIOS have support for the CPU, and I do not know which bios version I have.

FROM WEBSITE ===========

Q: Can I use the new 4th Gen Intel Core Processor on my ASUS 8 series motherboard?

A: Yes, ASUS 8 series motherboard can support new 4th Gen Intel Core Processors. Please apply a specified tool to update BIOS architecture and then update the BIOS version to the latest one before using new 4th Gen Intel Core Processor.

=============

So right now I am thinking about calling Asus customer support. I am somewhat convinced that if I can update the bios, this computer will complete POST.

The question is... how can I update the bios when it won't even output a signal??

There is a feature to update some asus boards through USB with only a power cord connected but I am not sure how to do that for this board, if it is possible.

It seems that all of these features require you to actually get to a bios screen at the very least.

What should I do?
