Looking for a new monitor

Hello guys,

I have planned to give my best friend a monitor as his birthday gift. The only problem is, the budget is around $150 and i might not be able to purchase a decent monitor like U2312HM. I've looked up at both Amazon and Newegg, and it seems that Viewsonic VX2370smh has the best display quality for that price.

Do you think it's the best deal for me, or could you guys please recommend another affordable one? He likes photography and movies, so i guess IPS panel is preferred.

I've heard that VX2370smh has AH-IPS panel and 100% sRGB which is impressive, what about Asus VS239H-P? Do Viewsonic products have good quality overall?

They're okay. I primarily stick with Asus, BenQ, and Dell monitors. Yeah that's a good point. The Asus one that I posted up is not AH-IPS. I took a look at yours a bit closer and it looks good to me aside from the fact that it does not support VESA mount.

What about Dell S2340M? On Amazon it is about $159 but on newegg's july 4th sale it's only $129 with promo code

I personally wouldn't buy it. I've tried that monitor and the screen is very glossy and reflective. VESA mounting also is limited to very specific products. And no HDMI input, just one DVI and one VGA.
