Hello, Please tell me how to update my bios safely using M-flash. i am currently using i3-4130 since I'm still waiting for my i7-4790k.. my bios version is 7845v1.3 and it is said from the msi's site that in order to use the i7-4790k i have to update my bios to 7845v1A.

I am afraid to update my bios using m-flash right now because it is my first time doing it and i am well aware that a failed update can brick my mobo.

Now here are my questions:
1. How can i Safely update my bios? (a detailed guide would be very much appreciated)
2. If i update my bios right now can i still use my i3-4130 for the mean time while waiting for the 4790k?
3. If ever I failed to update my Bios to 7845v1A will i still be able to fix/restore the bios? How?

P.S. i have no plan using the live Update.. i have trust issues with it.

2. You can absolutely still use your CPU. The update does not drop any support for CPUs.
3. I believe that the GD65 has dual BIOS? Does it not? If that is the case you have no worries, if it does not work, flick the switch to the second BIOS, boot up and then flash your first BIOS again.

I have personally updated my BIOS through LiveUpdate. What version of it are you using?

1. You should be able to download the BIOS update to your computer, then make a folder on a thumb drive, extract the files to that folder, enable USB flash in M Flash, and then you should be able to see the BIOS update from the thumb drive.

Here is a great guide on youtube.

I would also recommend updating ME at the same time.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or if I can make anything more clear. Also, thank you very much for posting a link to this thread from the other one instead of hijacking the other users thread.

Thanks for the help, After reading tons of information about bios update and using m-flash i finally understood how it works.. I'll try to update the bios once i have the 4790k.

here is my last question: if i download this update (Version1.A) and use M-flash to update the bios. will it also update the ME along with the bios?

I believe that it should. If you note along the bottom of the BIOS update that you downloaded, it states "you must use one of the following methods to update this BIOS: use MFlash to updates BIOS + ME, Use MSI LiveUpdate." You should be able to just use MFlash for it; however, when you have done this, I would use LiveUpdate to check to see if it did install. You can scan your computer and if it sees that your BIOS or ME are out of date, it should alert you to that.

Edit: I was looking under the driver page on MSIs website and it shows the Intel ME drivers, so you may have to download those drivers as well for it to update ME. However, as I said before, you can just update the BIOS, run LiveUpdate and see if ME was updated as well.

I really appreciate your help and also thank you for pointing out a lot of the details i am missing... i hope i can repay your kindness.

News just came in, and it seems that i have to wait til October before i can get my 4790k.

it seems that the Bios + ME(6-10-14) is a package update since.. the intel ME(6-29-13) is outdated .. do i need to update to Intel ME(6-29-13) frst before i update the BIOS + ME(6-10-14) ?

I just finished Flashing my bios and it has been successful. However, I think I am having problem with my USB ports.

Here is what happened: After being prompted that i have successfully updated my bios to Version 1.A0. I immediately booted to windows and then there is this small balloon at the lower right of my screen saying "installing new hardware" after that installation i can't move my mouse anymore but it has its light on and it is being detected on the bios.

After experiencing that problem i reset the cmos by unplugging all wall adapters connected to the CPU and left it for 5 mins.. (I also pressed the CMOS clear button at the back of the MOBO)

Now here is the weird part: The mouse is still not working but it is being detected. The six USB ports functions normally when I am Plugging USB Flash drives and Printers.. (I am currently using a different mouse)

I Think my mouse is the one broken since Other devices that i plug on the USB ports are all functioning normally.. please Help.. :: ((

Great! If you do not have a video card now then you might want to consider picking up a normal 780. There are some pretty good deals going on right now. You will always be waiting if you wait for the next best thing to come out :p.

Also, did you figure out the issue with your mouse? If not, you could always grab a cheap mouse or navigate with your keyboard to the manufacturers website and try to download drivers there.

I'm still a student and I get most of my money from my allowance that's why it takes time for me to purchase components. However I might only consider buying a GTX 870 if there is a significant improvement from the GTX 770. As of now I play DOTA 2 most of the time.

I tried a different mouse and it worked perfectly. But when I tried to replace it by the defective one It went back to normal and worked perfectly fine since then. any clue on what might have happened?
