Is 3Gb VRAM enough for 2560x1440?

Hi there.
I'm making new build and I was wondering if 3Gb of VRAM is enough for playing games like Battlefield 3, TES V:Skyrim with 4k textures and other mods like that at 2560x1440p. For 1080p it's enough but for 1440p?

  1. Yes 3GB is enough. But what GPU are you using? It will depend on the GPU.
  2. Yes i currently am using a HD7990 which is 6GB VRAM but actually 3GB VRAM that is usable and i have no problem running games at their max settings at 1440P

For 1440P, your card can run Battlefield 3, TES V:Skyrim with High to ultra settings @ 40-60 FPS without any problems.

Battlefield 4 will run in this card at 1440P with an average of 50-60 FPS.
  5. For those games, yes. However, more games are starting to use a lot more VRAM, so beware. If you're only planning on getting one GPU and never going to 2 or 3-way SLI, then don't worry about VRAM because you'll run out of horsepower before you run out of VRAM.
