Hi guys, I just upgraded my power supply from a super flower 750 80+ to an AX 860, and my case from a Rosewill Challenger to a CM Storm Trooper, and I got 2 Corsair SP 120´s High Performance Edition PWM fans for my Antec H20 920. The results I got was amazing from this big upgrade. My Idle temperatures are the usual 25-30 Celsius, but when I am playing games the temperatures went from 60 Celsius to 35-40 Celsius and Battlefield which really do stress your CPU, I went from 75-80 to 50 Celsius. So now I think it´s time to overclock, but the problem is I really don´t know how to do it correctly, last time I did I got 20 bluescreens! So if anybody want to help me during the process I would greatly appreciate it!
My Spec
CPU: i7 4770K Stock speeds
GPU: GTX 770
RAM: 2x4 GB 2133 MHz G-Skill Ares and 2x4 1866 MHz G-Skill Sniper
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA Z87x-OC
PSU: Corsair AX 860
SSD: 250GB Samsung 840 EVO
HDD: 3 TB Seagate Barracuda
Case: CM Storm Trooper

Solution
if those temperatures of 75-80C are @ stock speeds playing Battlefield 4 (or is it a different battlefield game?), it seems a little too hot with your antec cooler. the temperature spiking when your CPU is idling also seems very unusual.

imo, it sounds like the CPU block is either over-tightened (this is usually the case) or too loose. i'd probably re-mount the CPU block and see if that shows lower temperatures. keep turning in the screws until you feel like you need to apply force to turn it

Those temps were before the OP upgraded I believe.

Those were the temps I got before I upgraded, I didn´t even use the real mounting kit back then, now I am getting 50 Celsius in Battlefield, and that´s only Battlefield all of the other games I am getting 35-40 Celsius.

gotcha. as far as overclocking goes, you could start with this guide here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1411077/haswell-overclocking-guide-with-statistics

this will describe settings you should enable or disable that are important to overclocking success, as well as, safe limits for temperatures and voltages. in the end, it'll just come down to a rinse and repeat process of testing and more testing.

To be honest I really don´t understand this guide, I know this a lot to ask, but can you help me during the process of overclocking in the BIOS? I know that you have to find the balance between CPU ratio and CPU V Core, i´m only aiming for 4,3 GHz.

just curious what settings are you running games at? resolution and do you have to high / ultra AA on or off? seems pretty cool running @ 50c when pushing it on a modern game. is this battlefield or bf4?
